Federal Laws

Federal laws apply to people living in the United States and its territories. Congress creates and passes bills, which are signed into law by the President. Federal courts may review these laws and strike them down if they think they do not agree with the U.S. Constitution.

Employment Law
Federal Labor and Standards Act The FLSA establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and youth employment standards affecting employees in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. 
Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) This Federal Law ensures those who served in Armed Forces are not discriminated against because of their service. 
US Dept of Labor American Disabilities Act Information and rules regarding ADA 
US Dept of Labor Family or Medical Leave Act FMLA provides up to 12 weeks of job protected unpaid leave for covered employees to take care of a serious health condition of self or immediate family member, or to give birth or care for a child. 

State Laws

Each state has a set of laws that also apply to the people who living in or commute through that state. Like the federal system, the legislative bodies of each state create and pass bills. The state's govenor may then sign the bill into a law of that state. Additionally, each county, city, township or other local government body may implement ordinances that apply to the people who live or commute through those jurisdictions.

Each state also has a court system who may review these laws and strike them down if they think they do not agree with the state's constitution. Below are links to the laws and statutes of each state.
